Solar Movies

Go to SOHO's website, http://sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov, and click on Best of SOHO (on the left-hand side under Data), then on movies (near the top).  They take a while to download, but they are definitely worth the time and effort.

Observatory favorites are:

"Five same-day images of the sun in different wavelengths" --  This video shows all the different ways to look at the sun before taking as doctor prescribed.  You get to see sunspots and flares when different filters are used on the telescopes.

"Streaming plasma slides above the surface of the sun, in EIT 304 "  --  This video shows a solar flare.  The 304 means the filter used on the telescope was sensitive to light of wavelength 30.4 nanometers.
